In remarks, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/news\/speech\/gensler-remarks-crypto-markets-040422?utm_medium=email&#038;utm_source=govdelivery\">said<\/a> Gary Gensler, head of the agency.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cUnlike traditional platforms, bitcoin exchanges hold their clients\u2019 assets. In 2021, hackers stole $14 billion. Agency staff began to construct a framework for their operation to best safeguard clients\u2019 assets. In particular, account segregation would be prudent,\u201d<\/em> \u2014 Gary Gensler, head of the SEC.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Gensler argues that a similar logic applies to the platforms\u2019 own trading operations, which may be conducted against its users.<\/p>\n<p>The head of the SEC also turned his attention to stablecoin issuers.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cThe issuers of the three largest stablecoins are trading or lending platforms. Retail investors in the United States do not have direct redemption rights in two of them. There are conflicts of interest and questions about market integrity that can be addressed by strengthening oversight,\u201d<\/em> he explained.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Earlier, Gensler urged Congress <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/gary-gensler-urges-u-s-congress-to-clarify-regulation-of-bitcoin-exchanges\">clarify the regulation of bitcoin exchanges<\/a>.
