The public alliance ‘Virtual Assets of Ukraine’ and the cross-parliamentary association of deputies Blockchain4Ukraine sent letters to the heads of EU institutional bodies requesting Ukraine’s inclusion among the full members of the European Blockchain Partnership (EBP<\/span>). A copy of the letter is at ForkLog’s disposal.<\/p>\n

Among the addressees were European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, the head of the administration to the President of the European Commission Bjorn Seibert, and Anthony Uilan, the Commission’s adviser on digital policy.<\/p>\n

In July 2021, Bjorn Seibert reported readiness of EBP member states to study the possibility of granting Ukraine observer status within the organization. Nevertheless, the initiative group proposes Ukraine’s accession as a full member.<\/p>\n

According to the letter’s authors, blockchain technology can significantly contribute to Ukraine’s reconstruction after the end of the war with Russia by enabling cross-border public services.<\/p>\n

“The EBP will accelerate this reconstruction, and also support Ukraine and the EU’s further integration,” said the advocacy group.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Members of the EBP gain access to the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI<\/span>). It \u0432\u0445\u043e\u0434\u044f\u0442<\/a> cross-border electronic services, including mutual recognition of diplomas, driver’s licenses, the abolition of apostilles and the notarization of documents.<\/p>\n

In Kyiv, the public alliance ‘Virtual Assets of Ukraine’ was formed in in late November 2020<\/a>. It includes the public organization Blockchain4Ukraine, law firms Arzinger and Juscutum, and the Binance exchange.<\/p>\n

In June 2021, members of the association had already addressed EU leaders on creating a unified infrastructure for blockchain services<\/a>. They also proposed a roadmap<\/a> for blockchain integration with Europe.<\/p>\n
