The ECON Committee will vote on this here on 14 March 2022 \u27a1\ufe0f Thread <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/MiCA?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#MiCA<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Stefan Berger (@DrStefanBerger) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DrStefanBerger\/status\/1500852921419902991?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 7, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>According to the MiCA rapporteur Stefan Berger, the bill excludes formulations that could be interpreted as a possible ban on Bitcoin.<\/p>\n<p>Further discussions concerning the energy-intensive <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/what-is-the-proof-of-work-pow-algorithm\">Proof-of-Work<\/a> consensus algorithm have been moved by the lawmakers to the EU&#8217;s sustainable finance initiative \u2014 the Taxonomy, clarified Berger.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cWith MiCA, the European Union can set global standards, so we urge all participants to back the presented project and vote \u2018for\u2019. A firm backing of MiCA will send a strong signal from the EU Parliament to a technologically neutral and innovative financial sector,\u201d said the deputy.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Berger noted that the proposed bill would create \u201clegal certainty and reliable supervisory structures in the field of crypto assets\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>ECON had planned to consider the document on 28 February, but the vote was postponed at Berger&#8217;s request because of ambiguous wording.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cFor me, as rapporteur, it is crucial that MiCA is not misinterpreted as a de-facto Bitcoin ban\u201d \u2014 he wrote at the time.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p lang=\"de\" dir=\"ltr\">The EU Parliament&#8217;s vote on #MiCA has been postponed at my request and will not take place on 28 February.
