This is 77% below the $105 million in the previous period, according to the <a href=\\\"https:\/\/d18rn0p25nwr6d.cloudfront.net\/CIK-0001045810\/7260f18c-9ebc-4365-a425-762fa272960f.pdf\\\">report<\/a> filed with the <span data-descr=\\\"U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission\\\" class=\\\"old_tooltip\\\">SEC<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>The manufacturer <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/first-pictures-of-nvidias-mining-focused-graphics-card-published\">launched in early 2021<\/a> a specialized line of GPUs for miners. The move is intended to preserve the accessibility of the company&#8217;s flagship products for gamers.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>In the third quarter, Nvidia also <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/nvidia-mining-chip-sales-slump-60-in-q3\">recorded a drop in sales<\/a> in the CMP segment from $266 million to $105 million \u2014 60%. For the year, revenue from mining-chip sales totaled $550 million on gross revenue of $17.5 billion.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>In remarks on the fourth-quarter and fiscal-year results, the company noted that its regular GPUs can also mine cryptocurrencies. However, Nvidia declined to say how this would affect overall demand.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\\\">\n<p>\u201cVolatility in the cryptocurrency markets, including shifts in prices or the methods for confirming transactions, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/what-is-the-proof-of-work-pow-algorithm\">Proof-of-Work<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/proof-of-stake-how-it-works-and-why-it-is-so-popular\">Proof-of-Stake<\/a>, could affect demand and our ability to gauge it accurately,\u201d the document said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>The firm noted that virtually all GeForce GPUs with the NVIDIA Ampere architecture for desktop PCs <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/nvidia-to-throttle-hash-rate-on-three-more-gpu-models\">have mining restrictions<\/a>, designed to steer these products toward gamers.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>The Nvidia report said that in the first quarter of 2023 it would book a $1.36 billion charge to operating losses for SoftBank&#8217;s prepayment related to the ARM merger.
