The protesters blocked central Ottawa, and also blocked the bridge linking Detroit, USA, and Windsor, Canada. CNN reported that traffic there resumed by the evening of February 13.<\/p>\n<p>Initially, protesters used GoFundMe and GiveSendGo to obtain donations. However, in early February the first service shut down the fundraiser and announced refunds.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">To simplify the process for our users, we will be refunding all donations to the Freedom Convoy 2022 fundraiser. It gives the government broad powers to restore order and allows banks to freeze the personal accounts of anyone linked to or supporting the protests without a court order.<\/p>\n<p>According to Trudeau, the emergency measures will be time-limited and applied only where necessary. Crowdfunding platforms must report \u201clarge and suspicious transactions\u201d to <span data-descr=\"Canada's Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre (FINTRAC)\" class=\"old_tooltip\">FINTRAC<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Freeland&#8217;s statement was criticized by Alex Gladstein, the strategy director of the Human Rights Foundation.
