{"id":56809,"date":"2022-01-29T10:30:55","date_gmt":"2022-01-29T08:30:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=56809"},"modified":"2025-09-04T08:20:22","modified_gmt":"2025-09-04T05:20:22","slug":"bank-of-japan-to-decide-on-cbdc-launch-by-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/bank-of-japan-to-decide-on-cbdc-launch-by-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Bank of Japan to decide on CBDC launch by 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda told lawmakers that the regulator has not yet decided on launching a digital yen. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/finance\/bojs-kuroda-says-japan-must-cooperate-with-us-europe-cbdc-norm-2022-01-28\/\">Reuters<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n<p>According to Kuroda, the BoJ is continuing experiments with a central bank digital currency (CBDC) and will decide on the advisability of its launch by 2026 after consultations with the government and the private sector.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;The most important thing is that the idea is sufficiently understood by the public,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Kuroda also noted the need to cooperate with Europe and the United States in developing an international standard for CBDC issuance.<\/p>\n<p>In the same parliamentary session, Finance Minister Shunichi Suzuki said Tokyo is closely watching the development of the digital yuan.
