{"id":56212,"date":"2022-01-19T23:59:41","date_gmt":"2022-01-19T21:59:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=56212"},"modified":"2025-09-04T05:16:08","modified_gmt":"2025-09-04T02:16:08","slug":"google-hires-former-paypal-executive-to-reboot-payments-division","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/google-hires-former-paypal-executive-to-reboot-payments-division\/","title":{"rendered":"Google hires former PayPal executive to reboot payments division"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Google has hired former PayPal chief executive Arnold Goldberg to run the payments division and set a new course for the company. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-01-19\/google-hires-paypal-vet-to-reset-strategy-after-banking-retreat\">Bloomberg<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n<p>Google&#8217;s Chief Commercial Officer Bill Ready outlined how the appointment fits into Google&#8217;s broader strategy to knit together a suite of financial services, including cryptocurrencies.<\/p>\n<p>He also announced plans to add additional payment features to Google&#8217;s search engine and the shopping service to offer users a full spectrum of financial services.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cWe are not a bank, and we have no intention of becoming one. \u2026 Our goal is to help build connections; we are not a conflicting party,\u201d Mr Ready said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>According to Bloomberg, Google spent years developing a digital checking and savings service and has struck deals with 11 banking partners to launch.<\/p>\n<p>In October, the company reportedly scrapped the initiative aimed at becoming the linchpin for the consumer-finance industry.<\/p>\n<p>In August 2021, Google <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/google-to-lift-ban-on-advertising-cryptocurrency-wallets-and-exchanges-in-the-united-states\">allowed the promotion through its advertising services of cryptocurrency-exchange services<\/a> and digital wallets for users in the United States.
