{"id":56167,"date":"2022-01-19T10:43:03","date_gmt":"2022-01-19T08:43:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=56167"},"modified":"2025-09-04T05:05:05","modified_gmt":"2025-09-04T02:05:05","slug":"metaplex-raises-46-million-from-multicoin-capital-and-jump-crypto","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/metaplex-raises-46-million-from-multicoin-capital-and-jump-crypto\/","title":{"rendered":"Metaplex raises $46 million from Multicoin Capital and Jump Crypto"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Metaplex Foundation, the entity behind the Solana-based NFT ecosystem of the same name, raised $46 million in its first financing round.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\u201cFrom the very beginning, a principle that we\u2019ve held to and has served us well is really looking to creators\u2014and people that work in the entertainment, media, and sports industries\u2014for inspiration in terms of where we take NFTs next\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/stphnhss?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@stphnhss<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/5DpjnDcDCl\">https:\/\/t.co\/5DpjnDcDCl<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Metaplex (@metaplex) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/metaplex\/status\/1483459130920681480?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 18, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The funding round was led by Multicoin Capital and Jump Crypto, with participation from Solana Ventures, Alameda Research, Animoca Brands, basketball player Michael Jordan, rapper Snoop Dogg, and other investors.<\/p>\n<p>Metaplex Foundation director Stephen Hess noted that the raised funds would be used to expand potential use cases for Solana NFTs and to support projects building new tools on the protocol.<\/p>\n<p>According to the organisation, Metaplex, launched in June 2021, has helped issue more than 5 million Solana-based non-fungible tokens for 85,000 projects.<\/p>\n<p>Hess also told The Block about Metaplex Foundation&#8217;s plans to launch its own governance token META \u201cin the near future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in January, the NEAR Protocol team <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/near-protocol-token-hits-all-time-high-on-back-of-150m-funding-round\">raised $150 million<\/a> under the leadership of Three Arrows Capital.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the crypto-derivatives exchange FTX <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/ftx-launches-2-billion-venture-fund\">launched a venture arm<\/a>.
