Christopher Giancarlo, a former Wall Street regulator who coin enthusiasts nicknamed CryptoDad, is joining the blockchain-focused investment firm CoinFund as an adviser. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/kc9yzEZy3J\">https:\/\/t.co\/kc9yzEZy3J<\/a> via <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/markets?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@markets<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 CoinFund (@coinfund_io) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/coinfund_io\/status\/1481737432651472900?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 13, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>In a statement to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblockcrypto.com\/post\/129612\/former-cftc-chair-joins-board-of-crypto-investment-firm\">The Block<\/a>, the former official said he hopes to help CoinFund &#8220;look a little into the future.&#8221; According to the company&#8217;s representative, Giancarlo is their first strategic adviser.<\/p>\n<p>In 2021, CoinFund led a funding round for <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/polkadot-based-moonbeam-team-raises-6-million\">Moonbeam<\/a>, NFT marketplace <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/nft-marketplace-rarible-raises-14-2-million-to-build-an-open-source-network-protocol\">Rarible<\/a> and the liquid-staking service <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/claystack-staking-protocol-raises-5-2m-in-seed-funding\">ClayStack<\/a>, and also invested in <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/flare-network-project-raises-11-3-million-in-funding-round-led-by-kenetic-capital\">Flare Network<\/a> and the P2E-games platform <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/alameda-research-and-animoca-brands-back-p2e-gaming-platform-in-6-5-million-round\">Rainmaker Games<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In June, the company announced <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/coinfund-to-launch-investment-instrument-for-nfts\">the launch of a new investment instrument for NFT companies<\/a> called Metaversal.<\/p>\n<p>Giancarlo led the CFTC from 2017 to 2019. Under his leadership, the regulator approved trading of Bitcoin futures.<\/p>\n<p>After his resignation the former official headed the nonprofit Digital Dollar Project, which promotes the idea of issuing a national digital currency, and <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/former-cftc-chairman-christopher-giancarlo-invests-in-blocktower-capital-crypto-fund\">invested<\/a> in the cryptocurrency hedge fund BlockTower Capital.<\/p>\n<p>In April 2021, Giancarlo <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/former-cftc-chair-joins-blockfi-board-of-directors\">joined the board<\/a> of the crypto-lending platform BlockFi.
