This will ease making changes to future client versions and specifications,&#8221; wrote Tim Beiko in a blog.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He noted that after the merge, the full Ethereum client consists of the Beacon node (the ETH 2.0 Phase 0 network) and the execution engine handled by the existing ETH 1.0 client. Both layers support <span data-descr=\\\"application programming interface\\\" class=\\\"old_tooltip\\\">API<\/span> endpoints and P2P connections to perform their roles.<\/p>\n<figure class=\\\"wp-block-image\\\"><img decoding=\\\"async\\\" src=\\\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/q20hxgYUY3AahlHXXHDSposb11Bp0fOcyceCeKwgVD0HgZPROPFc8nhJJgXXet_en8iGtp0ICtoXC73JhtgMbFrFeUheoNQBslIHjCatm0QIJ6wH8xQRUHpAd0LDsUFJRNp7tsMJ\\\" alt=\\\"Kintsugi testnet launch to test the Ethereum 2.0 transition\\\"\/><figcaption>Source: blog.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>According to Beiko, once the test results are incorporated into the software and specifications, the final round of testnets will be launched.<\/p>\n<p>All existing testnets will go through the merge.
