This is the view of the head of the <span data-descr=\"U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission\" class=\"old_tooltip\">SEC<\/span>, Gary Gensler, expressed in an interview with<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/sec-chairman-on-regulations-on-cryptocurrency-and-climate-risk-11639165931?mod=itp_wsj&#038;yptr=yahoo\"> Wall Street Journal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;The public expects a certain profit based on the efforts of some entrepreneur or group of programmers who have raised money from the public. This falls within the regulator&#8217;s remit,&#8221; the official noted.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>He reaffirmed the intention to take tougher measures to protect investors and stressed that exchanges hold user funds. Platforms can also use information obtained from clients, Gensler added, urging companies to engage with the Commission.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve publicly stated: come in, work with the SEC, register. In essence, these are exchanges, but there is other activity going on inside them. Therefore investors should receive robust protection,&#8221; Gensler stressed.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the official acknowledged that <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/gary-gensler-stresses-the-importance-of-regulating-the-crypto-industry\"> cryptocurrencies have a future<\/a>, but only in an environment of trust.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>In May, the Commission chairman urged Congress <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/gary-gensler-urges-u-s-congress-to-clarify-regulation-of-bitcoin-exchanges\">to bring clarity to the regulation of the crypto industry<\/a> and said that <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/gary-gensler-regulation-is-necessary-for-the-survival-of-cryptocurrencies\">the rules are necessary for digital assets to survive<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>In the summer, he <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/gensler-warns-of-tighter-regulation-for-defi-and-stablecoins\">warned of tighter regulation<\/a> of stablecoins and <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/what-is-decentralised-finance-defi\">DeFi<\/a>.
