Earlier, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/11\/29\/twitter-ceo-jack-dorsey-is-expected-to-step-down-sources-say.html\">CNBC<\/a>, citing sources, reported this.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">not sure anyone has heard but,<\/p>\n<p>I resigned from Twitter <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/G5tUkSSxkl\">pic.twitter.com\/G5tUkSSxkl<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 jack\u26a1\ufe0f (@jack) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jack\/status\/1465347002426867720?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 29, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/jack-dorsey-steps-down-as-twitter-ceo-board-unanimously-appoints-cto-parag-agrawal-as-successor-301432989.html\">press release<\/a>, the board unanimously appointed Parag Agrawal as CEO and a member of the board. He previously held the position of the company&#8217;s chief technology officer.<\/p>\n<p>Dorsey will remain on the board until the end of his term at the shareholders\u2019 meeting in 2022. Bret Taylor has replaced Patrick Pichette as chair. The personnel changes take effect immediately.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cI decided to leave Twitter because I believe the company is ready to part ways with its founders. I have deep faith in Parag as Twitter&#8217;s chief executive. Ten years of his work have changed the company. I am deeply grateful for his craft, heart and soul. The time has come for him to lead,\u201d Dorsey said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The company&#8217;s shares reacted positively to the news.<\/p>\n<p><script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/telegram.org\/js\/telegram-widget.js?15\" data-telegram-post=\"forklog\/22775\" data-width=\"100%\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>In 2020, sources at Bloomberg and CNBC reported that Elliott Management, which had acquired a significant stake in Twitter, was unhappy with Dorsey \u2014 specifically with his simultaneous leadership of the social network and the payments company Square. In 2015, he again headed Twitter. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/profile\/jack-dorsey\/?sh=339030c42372\">Forbes<\/a> values Dorsey\u2019s net worth at $11.9 billion and places him 173rd on the billionaire list. The magazine also named him Fintech Person of the Year in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Dorsey is a Bitcoin advocate. In his view, <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/jack-dorsey-outlines-plans-to-integrate-bitcoin-into-twitter\">one of the three key trends<\/a> shaping the future of social networks, alongside artificial intelligence and decentralisation.<\/p>\n<p><meta charset=\"utf-8\">Square invested in digital gold <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/square-invested-50-million-in-bitcoin\">$50 million<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/square-invests-a-further-170-million-in-bitcoin\">$170 million<\/a>. In the first quarter of 2021, <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/square-earns-3-51-billion-from-bitcoin-sales-via-cash-app-in-q1-2021\">BTC sales via the Cash App<\/a> brought the payments company $3.51 billion.<\/p>\n<p>In July, the firm <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/square-confirms-plans-to-develop-a-hardware-bitcoin-wallet\">announced<\/a> that it was developing a hardware wallet and a service for storing Bitcoin. Later, Dorsey said Square was considering the possibility <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/jack-dorsey-square-weighs-developing-an-open-source-bitcoin-miner\">of creating an open-source device to mine the first cryptocurrency<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Dorsey also stated <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/jack-dorsey-to-spearhead-development-of-a-decentralized-bitcoin-exchange\">that work on an open TBD platform<\/a> to build a decentralised Bitcoin exchange based on his payments company.
