This was stated by German Neglyad, deputy director of Rosfinmonitoring, <a href=\"https:\/\/tass.ru\/ekonomika\/13036835\">writes<\/a> TASS.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that in the 2018 national risk assessment, cryptocurrencies were identified as a high-risk factor for Russia&#8217;s financial space.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThe discussion here must be concluded, I think, in the coming year. And still, we must align with the standards provided by <span data-descr=\"Group developing financial measures to combat money laundering\" class=\"old_tooltip\">FATF<\/span>,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Referring to FATF proposals, Neglyad noted the need to regulate exchangers as entry points into the official financial system. According to him, the organisation proposes two methods of such regulation \u2013 subjecting them to anti-money-laundering legislation with identification, or banning their activities.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cBoth options have merit. There are various viewpoints. This discussion must be concluded,\u201d he said, the deputy director of Rosfinmonitoring.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Earlier in September, in a letter, the regulator <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/bank-of-russia-recommends-blocking-cards-and-accounts-for-transactions-with-bitcoin-exchanges\">classified cryptocurrency exchange operations as suspicious<\/a> and recommended banks conduct thorough monitoring of them.
