Its goal is to accelerate the emergence of a decentralized metaverse by investing in infrastructure, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesswire.com\/news\/home\/20211101005038\/en\/Sfermion-Raises-100M-NFT-Fund-Aimed-at-Accelerating-the-Emergence-of-the-Metaverse\">as stated in the release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Among strategic investors are billionaire Alan Howard, Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, Chris Dixon, Mark Andreessen, Matthew Roszak, Digital Currency Group, CMT Digital and Animoca Brands.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Sfermion launched Fund I, focused on direct investments in the non-fungible token (NFT) space. The new Fund II \u201cseeks to build a robust investment portfolio supporting the development of the metaverse,\u201d the firm said.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u00abWe created this fund based on the notion that NFT is the Trojan horse for the mass adoption of cryptocurrency and the next multi-billion-dollar industry,\u00bb said Sfermion managing partner Andrew Steinwald.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In a comment to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblockcrypto.com\/linked\/122856\/firm-backed-by-alan-howard-winklevoss-twins-closes-100-million-metaverse-fund\">The Block<\/a>, he added that the firm plans to invest through equity and token deals. According to him, the fund will partly focus on projects building NFT infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>As of writing, Sfermion has invested in more than 40 companies, including OpenSea and SuperRare.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of October<a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/facebook-rebrands-as-meta-nfts-to-feature-in-zuckerbergs-metaverse\"> Facebook announced a major rebranding<\/a> and refocusing the company on building its own metaverse. Against this backdrop<a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/metaverse-and-gamefi-tokens-rally-amid-facebook-rebrand\"> the token prices of projects<\/a> in the GameFi and virtual worlds sectors rose significantly.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Huobi Ventures supported the launch of OP Crypto Capital Management <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/huobi-ventures-backs-25-million-metaverse-focused-fund-launch\">fund with $25 million in assets<\/a> focused on investments in<a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/what-is-decentralised-finance-defi\"> DeFi<\/a>, Web 3.0 and metaverses.<\/p>\n<p>In early November, the Hong Kong gaming platform<a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/nft-project-the-sandbox-raises-93-million-to-build-a-metaverse\"> The Sandbox raised $93 million<\/a> to create a metaverse.
