{"id":51468,"date":"2021-10-20T10:02:00","date_gmt":"2021-10-20T07:02:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=51468"},"modified":"2025-09-02T23:52:26","modified_gmt":"2025-09-02T20:52:26","slug":"russian-oil-producers-propose-using-their-equipment-for-mining","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/russian-oil-producers-propose-using-their-equipment-for-mining\/","title":{"rendered":"Russian oil producers propose using their equipment for mining"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Vasily Shpak has appealed to the Ministry of Digital Development and the Central Bank to assess the feasibility of using equipment of Russian oil-producing companies for mining. <a href=\\\"https:\/\/www.kommersant.ru\/doc\/5040338\\\">\u00ab\u042a\u00bb<\/a> reports, citing Shpak&#8217;s letter.<\/p>\n<p>The plan involves using associated petroleum gas (APG) to generate electricity to power data centers (DCs) and use them for cryptocurrency mining.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Industry and Trade asked the Central Bank to assess how lawful such a proposal is. The ministry said the initiative came from market participants.<\/p>\n<p>A source close to the ministry said that one of the major Russian oil-producing companies wants to scale up its mining project, but its plans are hampered by legislative uncertainty in the sector.<\/p>\n<p>The project could involve Gazprom Neft.
