In February, the lots from his NFT collection Aku, depicting a Black boy dreaming of becoming an astronaut, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/heyerikan\/status\/1363570248494948352\">attracted $1.4 million<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Around Johnson, a community of thousands of supporters has formed. They share his visionary belief in the possibility of dreaming big and breaking through limits, and are convinced Visa will back the idea.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>&#8220;With the crypto-community&#8217;s leadership, I was able to build a small business around Aku, which could grow into a global media company&#8221;<\/em>, \u2014 said Micah Johnson.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/usa.visa.com\/content\/dam\/VCOM\/blogs\/micah-johnson-aku-still-800x450.png\" alt=\"Visa and artist Micah Johnson launch initiative to popularise NFTs\"\/><figcaption>Data: Visa.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>The partnership will focus on developing a program designed to help creators understand the essence of NFTs and the use of blockchain technology in the creation and sale of digital goods. Micah Johnson will serve as its curator.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>&#8220;We are at the dawn of a digital renaissance in the world of art and content creation \u2014 a thriving ecosystem of artists, musicians, writers, photographers and curators building communities at the intersection of culture and commerce. NFTs will lower the barriers to starting your own digital-creator business worldwide,&#8221; said Kai Sheffield, head of Visa&#8217;s crypto division and vice-president.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>After an open call for applications, the company will select a pilot group of authors.
