Vakhovsky District Court of Kazan extended<\/a> the detention of Finiko founder Kirill Doronin by two months \u2014 until November 28.<\/p>\n

The defense urged changing the measure of restraint to house arrest, citing that the defendant has two minor children and a pregnant wife.<\/p>\n

However, given the gravity of the offense and the defendant’s Turkish citizenship<\/a>, the court denied the request.<\/p>\n

Doronin is charged with fraudulent actions<\/a> as part of an organized group, resulting in damages of at least 250 million rubles.<\/p>\n

Officers from the Organized Crime Investigation Department were assigned to the Finiko case.<\/p>\n

As previously reported, the damages claimed by victims in the Finiko pyramid case had exceeded 1 billion rubles<\/a>.<\/p>\n

More than 3,300 investors have approached the agency, including Russian citizens and nationals of Germany, Austria, Hungary, the United States and other countries. Because of the scale of the crime, the case was referred to the central office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.<\/p>\n

Within the investigation were also arrested the pyramid’s Ilgiz Shakirov<\/a> and Dina Gabdullina<\/a>, as well as Lilia Nurieva, holder of the “tenth star” status. At the latest hearing, Doronin stated that Ilgiz Shakirov had never been his personal assistant, and that Nurieva and Gabdullina had never been close to him.<\/p>\n

Co-founders of Finiko \u2014 Zygmunt Zygmuntowicz, Marat and Edward Sabirovs \u2014 managed to leave the country. They were declared internationally wanted and arrested in absentia.<\/p>\n

Earlier all three tried to appeal their arrest<\/a>, but the Supreme Court of Tatarstan rejected their appeal.<\/p>\n
