They also oppose recognising Bitcoin as legal tender.<\/p>\n<p>Some participants wore T-shirts bearing the slogan &#8216;No to Bitcoin&#8217;. At the end of August <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/protests-erupt-in-el-salvador-over-bitcoin-legalization\">hundreds of protesters gathered for a similar rally<\/a>. They expressed concerns about a potential rise in corruption from the use of cryptocurrencies and the addition of digital gold to the US dollar.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the government announced its intention to exempt foreign investors from <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/el-salvador-to-exempt-foreign-bitcoin-investors-from-taxes\">capital gains tax and income tax on transactions<\/a> with digital gold.<\/p>\n<p>On 7 September in El Salvador <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/el-salvador-legalises-bitcoin-as-government-buys-550-btc\">the law came into force<\/a> recognizing Bitcoin as an official means of payment alongside the US dollar.
