He said this in an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/video\/2021\/09\/13\/kevin-oleary-us-regulators-need-to-make-decisions-on-cryptos.html\">CNBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In his view, the absence of clear regulation prevents financial-services firms from joining the industry. In the current environment they risk being left out of the game or attracting the attention of regulators.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cI don&#8217;t want to get involved with cryptocurrencies if regulators say it&#8217;s not okay,\u201d said O\u2019Leary.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He also conceded that bitcoin investments would rise with the approval of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) based on digital assets.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cI think this will eventually happen in the next couple of years,\u201d the investor added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In March, O\u2019Leary stated <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/tv-star-kevin-oleary-plans-to-allocate-3-of-his-assets-to-bitcoin\">his intention to invest 3% of his assets<\/a> in the first cryptocurrency. A month later he clarified that he would buy only <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/shark-tank-star-kevin-oleary-pledges-to-buy-only-clean-bitcoin\">eco-friendly digital gold<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, SEC Chairman Gary Gensler stated that the 1940 Act <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/gensler-warns-of-tighter-regulation-for-defi-and-stablecoins\">provides stronger investor protections<\/a>. He stressed that a fund meeting regulator&#8217;s requirements could be approved.<\/p>\n<p>Applications to launch instruments in line with the regulator&#8217;s recommendations were filed by <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/vaneck-files-for-bitcoin-strategy-etf\">VanEck<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/valkyrie-investments-files-for-bitcoin-futures-based-etf\">Valkyrie Investments<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/invesco-files-to-launch-bitcoin-etf-expert-surprised-by-the-circumstances\">Invesco<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/galaxy-digital-applies-to-launch-a-bitcoin-futures-etf-under-the-1940-act\">Galaxy Digital<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/advisorshares-applies-to-launch-a-bitcoin-futures-etf\">AdvisorShares<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Bloomberg analysts had forecast the approval of a Bitcoin ETF by the U.S. regulator by the end of October 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Subscribe to ForkLog news on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/forklog\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Facebook<\/a>!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Investor and star of the television show Shark Tank, Kevin O\u2019Leary, urged U.S. authorities to move as quickly as possible to develop a regulatory framework for the cryptocurrency market.
