U.Today reports.<\/p>\n<p>On August 31, the regulator filed the corresponding motion.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/XRPCommunity?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#XRPCommunity<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/SECGov?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#SECGov<\/a> v. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Ripple?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Ripple<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/XRP?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#XRP<\/a> The SEC has filed a Motion to Compel Ripple to produce video and audio recordings of Ripple staff meetings it claims to have learned about from a \u00abkey former Ripple employee\u00bb in a deposition taken earlier this month.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/3Lfv1UrgZz\">https:\/\/t.co\/3Lfv1UrgZz<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 James K. Filan \ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8\ud83c\uddee\ud83c\uddea (@FilanLaw) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FilanLaw\/status\/1432559835812409345?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 31, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The recordings concern general meetings dating back to the fourth quarter of 2014, meetings with SBI Holdings and others. Ripple and the Japanese financial conglomerate formed a partnership in 2016. As part of the agreement they created a joint venture SBI Ripple Asia.<\/p>\n<p>In December 2020, SBI Holdings stated that the SEC&#8217;s case <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/japanese-financial-giant-sbi-holdings-backs-ripple\">will not affect the status of the XRP token<\/a> in Japan.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, the mass of records also includes discussions by Ripple employees of the SEC investigation (December 22, 2020), the company&#8217;s prospects in light of the XRP price decline (February 26, 2018) and the centralisation of cryptocurrencies (March 30, 2020).<\/p>\n<p>The exact scope of the documents will be discussed at the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>At the beginning of September 2021, the federal judge Sarah Netburn ordered the California company <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/court-orders-ripple-to-disclose-slack-messages-to-the-sec\">to provide the regulator with access to employees&#8217; messages<\/a> in Slack.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the court <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/court-backs-ripple-in-sec-document-disclosure-dispute\">ruled in Ripple&#8217;s favor<\/a> on the SEC document disclosure matter. The regulator was ordered to file them with a minimal number of redactions.<\/p>\n<p>In late August<a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/ripple-seeks-data-on-sec-staff-cryptocurrency-trades\"> the fintech company <\/a> to provide information about operations of its employees with Bitcoin, Ethereum and XRP, and also requested documents<a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/ripple-seeks-documents-from-binance-in-sec-case\"> from the cryptocurrency exchange Binance<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On September 9, attorney Jeremy Hogan drew attention to the SEC clarification. However, in response, the Commission did not express its opinion one way or the other,\u201d the document states.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In December 2020, the SEC accused Ripple and its executives of <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/sec-files-suit-against-ripple\">unregistered sale of securities<\/a> under the guise of XRP tokens worth $1.3 billion. Later the regulator amended the complaint, focusing on the actions of <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/sec-clarifies-brad-garlinghouses-liability-in-ripple-lawsuit\">Brad Garlinghouse and Chris Larsen<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In July 2021 the company secured a subpoena of the former director of the SEC&#8217;s Division of Corporate Finance, William Hinman.
