{"id":49200,"date":"2021-09-10T10:20:49","date_gmt":"2021-09-10T07:20:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=49200"},"modified":"2025-09-02T11:26:47","modified_gmt":"2025-09-02T08:26:47","slug":"sec-again-extends-review-of-vanecks-bitcoin-etf-filing-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/sec-again-extends-review-of-vanecks-bitcoin-etf-filing-2\/","title":{"rendered":"SEC again extends review of VanEck&#8217;s Bitcoin ETF filing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will make a decision on VanEck&#8217;s Bitcoin ETF filing on November 14 <em>\u2014 <\/em>60 days earlier than the previously stated deadline.<\/p>\n<p>On March 2 the Chicago Board Options Exchange <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/cboe-files-to-list-bitcoin-etf\">filed<\/a> an application to list a Bitcoin ETF on behalf of VanEck. On March 18 the SEC <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/sec-begins-review-of-vanecks-bid-to-launch-a-bitcoin-etf\">began<\/a> its review, but postponed the decision twice \u2014 in <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/sec-delays-vanecks-bid-to-launch-a-bitcoin-etf-until-june-2021\">April<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/sec-again-extends-review-of-vanecks-bitcoin-etf-filing\">June<\/a>. The regulator required additional public comments &#8220;in light of legal and political considerations&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Under current rules, the Commission may do this three times. After completing the third such period, the agency must either approve or reject the proposed changes.<\/p>\n<p>SEC can review applications within 180 days of submission. It may also extend the decision for another 60 days with adequate justification.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>&#8220;The Commission believes it is justified to designate a long period to have enough time to review the proposed changes and the questions raised in the comment letters&#8221;,<\/em> \u2014 the regulator noted.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Earlier in August, VanEck <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/vaneck-files-for-bitcoin-strategy-etf\">filed<\/a> another application for a Bitcoin ETF.<\/p>\n<p>The structure is oriented toward Bitcoin futures and also takes into account the Investment Company Act of 1940.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, SEC Chairman Gary Gensler stated that a fund meeting these requirements <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/vaneck-files-for-bitcoin-strategy-etf\">could be approved<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Later Bloomberg analysts <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/bloomberg-analysts-forecast-sec-approval-of-bitcoin-etf-by-end-october\">predicted<\/a> the Commission would approve a Bitcoin ETF by the end of October.
