The Ryazan city administration’s website was hacked. The attackers posted on the page what appeared to be a Bitcoin giveaway, local media said.<\/p>\n

To receive the coins, users were asked to download a dedicated app. Initially, the attackers promised 0.025 BTC to each downloader, and later announced a $1,000 giveaway among five randomly selected people.<\/p>\n

At the time of writing, the advertisement has been removed.<\/p>\n

Scammers frequently stage fake cryptocurrency giveaways, often using the names of celebrities\u2014for example, Google founder Sergey Brin, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, or Tesla chief Elon Musk<\/a>.<\/p>\n
