Investing in cryptocurrencies is “a potentially disaster waiting to happen.” This view was expressed by former U.S. president Donald Trump in an interview with FOX Business<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Trump noted that he was never “a big fan of cryptocurrencies” and did not buy Bitcoin or other digital assets.<\/p>\n

“I like the United States dollar,” he told host Stuart Varney.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

In Trump’s view, investing money in digital assets harms the dollar.<\/p>\n

\n

“We must invest in our currency,” he emphasised.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Cryptocurrencies could turn out to be a scam, the former president added.<\/p>\n

\n

“Who knows what they are, but it’s certainly something about which people know little,” Trump said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

In June, he told Varney that the first cryptocurrency “looks like a scam”<\/a>, and the euphoria around it weighs on the dollar.<\/p>\n

Trump first commented on bitcoin in July 2019, saying that the asset’s price is highly volatile and largely unbacked.<\/p>\n

Former national security adviser to the former president, John Bolton, wrote in his memoirs that Trump had spoken about his aversion to cryptocurrency as early as May 2018.<\/p>\n
