This was stated by RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das in an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/08\/27\/india-central-bank-rbi-digital-rupee-trials-could-begin-by-december.html\">CNBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cWe are extremely cautious about this, as it is a completely new product not only for the RBI but for the entire world,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>According to Das, the central bank is examining various aspects of the digital currency, including its security, potential impact on the financial sector, monetary policy, and cash circulation.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the technical side of the project, the RBI governor said there is a choice between centralized and decentralized ledger technologies.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cI think that by the end of the year we will be able \u2014 perhaps ready \u2014 to begin the first trials,\u201d Das said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Earlier in March 2021, RBI researchers completed a study in which <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/rbi-weighs-the-pros-and-cons-of-a-cbdc\">identified the pros and cons<\/a> of the digital currency.<\/p>\n<p>In July, Das&#8217;s deputy clarified that the central bank <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/rbi-signals-phased-rollout-of-cbdc\">is developing a phased rollout strategy<\/a> for CBDC.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) could launch the first pilot programs for the national digital currency (CBDC) by December.
