Their overstated claims give drivers a false sense of security &#038; overblown confidence in their car\u2019s capabilities\u2014putting motorists &#038; others on the road at risk. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/6Mv1fKREq3\">pic.twitter.com\/6Mv1fKREq3<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Richard Blumenthal (@SenBlumenthal) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenBlumenthal\/status\/1428052038437556233?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 18, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;Repeated overstatements by Tesla and [CEO Elon] Musk about the capabilities of their cars\u2014despite clear and frequent warnings\u2014demonstrate a deeply troubling disregard for the safety of those on the road,&#8221; the senators wrote in a letter to the Chamber.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In their view, the company&#8217;s statements put drivers and passengers at risk of serious injuries or death.<\/p>\n<p>Markey and Blumenthal also cited<a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/american-regulators-open-investigation-into-teslas-autopilot\"> a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration<\/a> investigation, opened on August 16, 2021. The agency is examining a series of crashes between Tesla electric vehicles and other cars, in which at least 17 people were injured and one killed.
