Data: Chainalysis.<br \/><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The dataset covered indicators from 154 countries.<\/p>\n<p>According to the study, residents of developing nations turned to cryptocurrency to safeguard their savings from currency devaluation, to make remittances and to conduct business.<\/p>\n<p>In North America, Western Europe and East Asia, institutional investments were the main driver.<\/p>\n<p>The components of the index are PPP-adjusted per capita indicators: <\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>on-chain value realized;<\/li>\n<li>the same metric for retail investors (<$10,000);<\/li>\n<li>trading volume on P2P platforms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Experts sought to highlight countries with the greatest use of cryptocurrencies by ordinary citizens and to focus on payments and individual savings rather than trading and speculation.<\/p>\n<p>As shown in the chart below, the top five were Vietnam, India, Pakistan, Ukraine and Kenya. The United States fell from fourth to eighth, and China from eighth to thirteenth. Data: Chainalysis.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The high standing of Kenya, Nigeria, Vietnam and Venezuela is linked to large volumes of P2P transactions adjusted for PPP per capita. Residents of these countries face limited access to Bitcoin exchanges.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u00abThere are capital controls in many developing markets. Cryptocurrencies give people a way to bypass these restrictions\u00bb,<\/em> analysts explained.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The opposite trend for citizens of the United States and China led to lower positions in the rankings for those countries. In this component, China ranked last (last year\u201453), United States\u2014109 (16).<\/p>\n<p>The turning point is <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/crackdown-on-chinese-miners-drives-up-supply-of-used-asic-devices\">repression<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/china-bars-banks-and-payment-systems-from-bitcoin-transactions\"> <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/crackdown-on-chinese-miners-drives-up-supply-of-used-asic-devices\">by authorities<\/a> in the first case and the rising share of trading by professional and institutional investors in the second.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"975\" height=\"479\" src=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/3-275.png\" alt=\"Chainalysis: US and China lost leadership in cryptocurrency adoption\" class=\"wp-image-146210\" srcset=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/3-275.png 975w, https:\/\/u1f987.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/3-275-300x147.png 300w, https:\/\/u1f987.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/3-275-768x377.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 975px) 100vw, 975px\" \/><figcaption>Dynamics of the PPP-adjusted per capita P2P trading share by region. Data: Chainalysis.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In conclusion, experts concluded that cryptocurrencies have become a truly global phenomenon. In developed countries, as well as in markets with mature crypto infrastructure, activity on Bitcoin exchanges and <span data-descr=\"decentralized exchanges\" class=\"old_tooltip\">DEX<\/span> is booming, while in developing countries P2P platforms play the role of the primary conduit.<\/p>\n<p>As reported in Crypto.com <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/report-number-of-cryptocurrency-users-has-doubled-since-the-start-of-the-year\">counted<\/a> 221 million cryptocurrency users by the end of the first half.
