Reuters reports, citing the regulator.<\/p>\n<p>According to the FCA, in June the number of organisations that withdrew registration applications rose by 25%. At the start of the month the regulator counted 51 such companies \u2014 now there are 64.<\/p>\n<p>As of writing, six companies are <a href=\"https:\/\/register.fca.org.uk\/s\/search?predefined=CA\">listed<\/a> on the FCA register. Applications from more than 80 organisations are still <a href=\"https:\/\/register.fca.org.uk\/servlet\/servlet.FileDownload?file=0154G0000062BtF\">under review<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A regulator&#8217;s spokesman told the publication that Binance had withdrawn its application in mid-May, without providing further details.<\/p>\n<p>On 26 June, <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/uk-regulator-bans-binance-from-operating-in-the-country\">the FCA banned the British arm of the Bitcoin exchange<\/a> from engaging in any regulated activity without prior written approval from the regulator. <\/p>\n<p>A Binance spokesperson said the company is working closely with regulatory and law enforcement authorities &#8220;to enhance the safety and resilience of the sector, delivering better services and protection for users.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Mark Steward, head of enforcement and market oversight at the FCA, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/technology\/uk-watchdog-issues-warning-about-111-unregistered-crypto-asset-firms-2021-06-22\/\">said<\/a> that more than 100 unregistered firms operate in the UK. In his words, such activities threaten the financial system.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;We have a number of firms that are clearly conducting business in the United Kingdom without our authorisation. They work with banks, payment service providers, and consumers. This is a real risk, which is why we are concerned about this matter,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In December 2020 the FCA <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/uk-introduces-temporary-registration-regime-for-crypto-firms\">introduced a temporary registration regime<\/a> for crypto firms awaiting regulator approval. It was intended to last until 9 July 2021.<\/p>\n<p>In June 2021 the regulator <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/uk-extends-temporary-registration-regime-for-cryptoasset-firms\">extended the regime to 31 March 2022<\/a>.
