The funds will also go toward expanding the staff and opening a local office to conduct operations.<\/p>\n<p>Matias Goldenhorn, head of Athena Bitcoin&#8217;s Latin American division, noted that Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele had set the company a &#8220;difficult task \u2014 1,500 ATMs.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">1,000? Earlier, the operator <a href=\"https:\/\/www.athenabitcoin.com\/el-zonte-el-salvador-cafe-cocoa\">installed<\/a> a Bitcoin ATM on El Zonte Beach as part of an experiment.<\/p>\n<p>In June, the Salvadoran parliament passed a bill <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/el-salvador-passes-bill-recognizing-bitcoin-as-legal-tender\">on recognizing Bitcoin as a legal means of payment<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The opposition <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/salvadoran-opposition-declares-bitcoin-legalisation-unconstitutional\">called unconstitutional<\/a> the legalization of digital gold.
