{"id":44326,"date":"2021-06-15T10:22:18","date_gmt":"2021-06-15T07:22:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=44326"},"modified":"2025-08-31T16:28:52","modified_gmt":"2025-08-31T13:28:52","slug":"thailand-bans-trading-of-dogecoin-and-nfts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/thailand-bans-trading-of-dogecoin-and-nfts\/","title":{"rendered":"Thailand bans trading of Dogecoin and NFTs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Thai Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) <a href=\\\"https:\/\/www.sec.or.th\/EN\/Pages\/News_Detail.aspx?SECID=8994\\\" target=\\\"_blank\\\" rel=\\\"noopener\\\">banned<\/a> local exchanges from trading meme cryptocurrencies, fan tokens, and NFTs.<\/p>\n<p>The restrictions affect cryptocurrencies akin to Dogecoin and collectibles in the form of non-fungible tokens.<\/p>\n<p>SEC Chief Ruenvadi Suwanmongkol said the agency had prepared guidelines for crypto exchanges describing the features of digital assets prohibited from trading.<\/p>\n<p>They relate primarily to coins that have no clear purpose or substance, developing according to social-media-driven trends. Also banned are meme-based digital currencies and exchange-native tokens.<\/p>\n<p>The restrictions came into effect on June 11 and are not retroactive. Within 30 days, trading platforms must review their rules; otherwise this will lead to compulsory delisting of coins.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in June, Thai authorities began considering regulation of the DeFi sector.
