In Qinghai, miners use energy produced by local coal-fired power plants.<\/p>\n<p>The department said its actions are carried out under the \u201cMeasures for the Evaluation of Energy-Saving of Investment Projects,\u201d adopted by the National Development and Reform Commission. Officials also cited the State Council directive on maintaining financial stability by cracking down on cryptocurrency mining and trading of Bitcoin. <\/p>\n<p>Qinghai has become the third province whose authorities have revised their stance toward cryptocurrency mining. Previously, similar initiatives were voiced in <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/xinjiang-residents-of-one-of-the-largest-mining-hubs-ordered-to-halt-operations\">Xinjiang<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/inner-mongolia-authorities-launch-crackdown-on-illegal-cryptocurrency-mining\">Inner Mongolia<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As reported, on May 23 China\u2019s Xinhua News Agency <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/china-criticises-bitcoin-and-mining-market-falls\">criticised<\/a> cryptocurrency mining and Bitcoin trading, three days after Vice Premier Liu He spoke in a similar vein.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, officials in Sichuan Province held a seminar on using surplus hydroelectric power under the ban.
