Previously the regulator had only considered wholesale CBDCs.<\/p>\n<p>According to the press release, to study the digital Hong Kong dollar the agency is collaborating with BIS Innovation Hub. Together they will assess the advantages and risks associated with the instrument.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The HKMA said that, together with the People\u2019s Bank of China (PBoC), they will continue testing the digital yuan in cross-border payments.<\/p>\n<p>In February, the PBoC and the Central Bank of the UAE joined the second phase of the project <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/peoples-bank-of-china-and-uae-central-bank-join-hong-kong-thailand-cbdc-bridge-project\">\u201cBridge for central bank digital currencies\u201d<\/a>, previously known as Inthanon-LionRock.
