A Moscow justice of the peace court fined the social network Twitter a total of 19 million rubles for not removing prohibited content.<\/p>\n
According to TASS<\/a> in the court’s press service, the court considered six administrative cases against the company.<\/p>\n Earlier, for failing to remove prohibited content, Twitter was fined 8.9 million rubles<\/a>.<\/p>\n Since March, Roskomnadzor began slowing the social network’s speed<\/a> in Russia. The agency threatened<\/a> to apply similar measures to Google’s services.<\/p>\n On May 25, the court fined the latter \u043d\u0430 6 \u043c\u043b\u043d \u0440\u0443\u0431\u043b\u0435\u0439<\/a> for failing to remove prohibited content.<\/p>\n Later, Roskomnadzor head Andrey Lipov said that the fines are an effective means of pressuring Google, and that slowing its services would not be pursued for now.<\/p>\n However, if the threats from any of the social networks outweigh the benefits, they will apply ‘more radical measures’.<\/p>\n Earlier, for failing to remove prohibited content, Russian courts also fined TikTok<\/a>, VKontakte and Telegram<\/a>.<\/p>\n
