Roskomnadzor threatened to slow traffic to Google’s services because of insufficient filtering of materials prohibited in the territory of the Russian Federation, writes RIA Novosti<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to the agency, about five thousand such materials remain on YouTube, and Google does not remove up to 30% of links to illegal content from its search results.<\/p>\n

Roskomnadzor sent Google more than 26,000 notices demanding the removal of illegal information and gave the company 24 hours to comply.<\/p>\n

“In the event of a repeat offense, the fine will be increased to one-tenth of the company’s annual revenue,” the agency said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Earlier, in the Federation Council, there were calls to slow down YouTube<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Earlier in March, Roskomnadzor began slowing Twitter’s speed<\/a> in Russia due to the social network’s refusal to delete content that the agency deemed illegal.<\/p>\n

Later, a Russian court fined Twitter 8.9 million rubles<\/a>. In mid-May, Roskomnadzor decided to partially lift restrictions on the social network<\/a> and abandoned the idea of blocking it.<\/p>\n
