{"id":43025,"date":"2021-05-24T11:48:35","date_gmt":"2021-05-24T08:48:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=43025"},"modified":"2025-08-31T01:48:32","modified_gmt":"2025-08-30T22:48:32","slug":"ecb-sees-limited-risks-to-financial-stability-from-cryptocurrencies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/ecb-sees-limited-risks-to-financial-stability-from-cryptocurrencies\/","title":{"rendered":"ECB sees limited risks to financial stability from cryptocurrencies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The European Central Bank (ECB), in a new <a href=\\\"https:\/\/www.ecb.europa.eu\/pub\/financial-stability\/fsr\/html\/ecb.fsr202105~757f727fe4.en.html\\\" target=\\\"_blank\\\" rel=\\\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\\\">report<\/a>, described the risks to financial institutions from digital assets as &#8216;limited&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Crypto assets are still not widely used for payments, and euro-area financial institutions are little exposed to crypto-linked financial instruments, so the risks to financial stability currently appear limited,&#8221; the document says.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>The ECB noted growing interest in digital gold not only from retail investors but also from some institutional investors and non-financial corporations.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Price volatility makes Bitcoin risky and speculative, while its outsized carbon footprint and potential use in illicit activities are a cause for concern,&#8221; the ECB added.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, ECB President Christine Lagarde <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/ecb-chief-warns-of-money-laundering-risks-from-cryptocurrencies\">warned about money-laundering risks<\/a> with cryptocurrencies.
