Later, the board of directors approved a policy to increase <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/microstrategy-bets-another-175-million-on-bitcoin\">investments in bitcoin<\/a> funded from cash reserves.<\/p>\n<p>In December, MicroStrategy used <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/microstrategy-invests-another-650-million-in-bitcoin\">debt financing<\/a> for the first time to purchase cryptocurrency. The company issued convertible bonds <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/microstrategy-raises-650-million-for-bitcoin-purchase\">for $650 million<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In February 2021, the software provider carried out a new issue of debt securities <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/microstrategy-raises-more-than-1-billion-in-debt-financing-to-buy-bitcoin\">worth more than $1 billion<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/microstrategy-buys-more-bitcoin-for-1-026-billion\">again invested<\/a> the funds raised in bitcoin.<\/p>\n<p>In March the firm continued to direct free cash into the leading cryptocurrency, first investing <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/microstrategy-invests-another-15-million-in-bitcoin\">$15 million<\/a>, then <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/microstrategy-buys-another-205-btc-at-a-price-below-50000\">$10 million<\/a>, and then <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/microstrategy-buys-additional-bitcoin-for-15-million\">another $15 million<\/a>. For a similar amount, MicroStrategy <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/microstrategy-makes-a-further-15-million-investment-in-bitcoin\">bought bitcoins in April<\/a>, and the company pledged <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/microstrategy-announces-new-bitcoin-purchases\">to continue investing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The value of the company\u2019s cryptocurrency holdings at the time of writing is over $4.57 billion, with an average purchase price of $24,403 per bitcoin.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcointreasuries.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bitcoin Treasuries<\/a>, the share of reserves in the digital asset within the company\u2019s market capitalization stands at 93%. The software vendor&#8217;s stock prices have already <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/microstrategy-shares-resume-rise-as-bitcoin-hits-new-price-records\">demonstrated a correlation<\/a> with the price of bitcoin.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier the UK&#8217;s largest bank HSBC <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/hsbc-confirms-ban-on-microstrategy-stock-purchases\">banned<\/a> clients from buying MicroStrategy shares via its online platform.
