Wright trial postponed to November 2021

The United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida has again postponed the hearing in the case of the self-proclaimed Bitcoin creator Craig Wright and the family of his former partner, Dave Kleiman. The ruling explains the postponement.

The parties filed a joint motion to extend the pretrial deadlines. This is not the first change of date: the hearing was originally scheduled for July 6, 2020, after several delays it was moved to October 13, and then moved to 2021.

Judge Beth Bloom extended the deadline for disclosure of evidence to August 31, and the pretrial proceedings to September 14. The hearing itself was moved to November 1.

According to the document, on May 11 the court will review the status of the case.

In February 2018, Ira Kleiman, the brother of the late computer forensic scientist and mathematician Dave Kleiman, filed suit against Craig Wright.

The plaintiff accused Wright of misappropriating 1.1 million BTC, believed to have belonged to Dave Kleiman, who is linked to the creation of Bitcoin.

In August 2019, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida ordered Wright to pay 500,000 BTC. The self-proclaimed Satoshi Nakamoto declined to participate in the settlement agreement. The proceedings were resumed.

In May 2020, 145 early Bitcoin addresses signed a statement accusing Wright of fraud and perjury. He claimed that these addresses belonged to him.

In June 2020, Wright and Kleiman’s lawyers submitted a list of 36 witnesses in the case. Among the experts were early Bitcoin developer Gavin Andresen and crypto-philosophy advocate Andreas Antonopoulos.

In September 2020, the court denied Wright’s motion for expedited proceedings. Earlier, he had argued that the statute of limitations had expired and the plaintiff could not prove an oral agreement.

 gov.uscourts.flsd.521536.651.0 by ForkLog on Scribd

Read ForkLog’s bitcoin news in our Telegram — cryptocurrency news, prices and analytics.

The United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida has again postponed the hearing in the case of the self-proclaimed Bitcoin creator Craig Wright and the family of his former partner, Dave Kleiman.

[3
1162,375,1925
post-42181","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news-and-analysis","tag-court-cases","tag-craig-wright","tag-kleiman
["GET
