According to him, the second step was to empower MASAK with oversight powers over bitcoin exchanges.<\/p>\n<p>The council drafted guidelines for trading platforms, including rules and penalties, Elvan added.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u00abMASAK has full authority to audit crypto exchanges. Trading platforms [\u2026] are responsible for notifying MASAK of any transactions above 10,000 Turkish lira within ten days\u00bb, \u2014 stressed the Finance Minister.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He noted that in developing the new rules authorities took into account recommendations from experts and industry representatives. The final version of the document will be sent to the President of Turkey for consideration soon, Elvan said.<\/p>\n<p>In April, the Thodex <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/turkish-bitcoin-exchange-suspected-of-exit-scam\">unexpectedly halted trading<\/a>. As part of the investigation into an alleged exit scam, <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/sixty-two-detained-in-turkey-over-ties-to-thodex-crypto-exchange\">62 people were arrested<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The CEO of the company, Faruk Fatih \u00d6zer, was declared wanted. Later a court <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/relatives-of-thodex-ceo-arrested-in-turkey\">arrested six people<\/a> connected to Thodex, including relatives of the platform\u2019s head.<\/p>\n<p>On 26 April, the Turkish crypto exchange Vebitcoin <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/second-bitcoin-exchange-closes-in-turkey-as-media-report-arrests\">ceased operations<\/a> due to financial difficulties.
