We should consider strengthening investor protections,\u201d the head of the regulator said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Gensler also added that the SEC is examining the impact of social media on financial markets.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\\\">\n<p>\u201cThere are risks that bad actors could attempt to send signals to manipulate the market. We continue to deepen our understanding, resources and capabilities in this area,\u201d the agency head said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He also mentioned the role of online communities such as Reddit in stock pumping, but added that he is not seeking to curb free speech. According to Gensler, it is important to determine whether these channels have been used by bad actors.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, when he was a candidate to head the SEC, <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/gary-gensler-sec-chair-candidate-calls-bitcoin-a-catalyst-for-change\">spoke positively about<\/a> blockchain, Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.
