At its peak the volume-weighted average price reached $1,811, but at the time of writing had fallen to $700, according to CoinMarketCap.<\/p>\n

The coin is trading on OKEx, Gate.io, MXC.COM and Bibox.<\/p>\n

On the OKEx exchange the peak price reached $2,500, on Gate.io \u2013 $1,560.<\/p>\n

The total daily trading volume of Chia amounts to $18.4 million, according to CoinMarketCap.<\/p>\n

The amount of disk space occupied by the cryptocurrency currently \u0434\u043e\u0441\u0442\u0438\u0433<\/a> 2.11 exabytes. 457,402 coins have been mined from just over 21 million units.<\/p>\n

The BitTorrent protocol network Chia Network, created by Bram Cohen, uses the Proof-of-Space and Proof-of-Time [proofs of space and time].<\/p>\n

The project’s mainnet launched in March 2021.<\/p>\n

According to the white paper from 10 February, the company raised about $16 million in financing via SAFE (Simple Agreement for Future Equity) agreements. The last round of $5 million closed in August 2020.<\/p>\n

The company is backed by venture funds including Andreessen Horowitz, Galaxy Investment Group, DCM Ventures, True Ventures and others.<\/p>\n

Earlier, amid the hype around the coins, miners of the cryptocurrency created a local shortage of HDDs and SSDs in China<\/a>. The local solid-state drive maker Galax warned users that they would refuse warranty service for the SSDs<\/a> on which Chia was mined.<\/p>\n

For a 200 TB rig, it would cost around $16,000<\/a>.<\/p>\n
