A 49-year-old woman from the Kursk region lost more than one million rubles on a fraudulent site that purported to be involved in cryptocurrency trading, according to the local police.<\/p>\n
The victim filled out an online form, after which a so-called ‘analyst’ called and proposed transferring a large sum to someone else’s card.<\/p>\n
Then the scammers extorted a further 188,000 rubles allegedly “to complete the deal”. Later, under the pretext of withdrawing the initial funds, they persuaded the victim to pay some “tax”.<\/p>\n
In total, the Russian woman transferred 1.1 million rubles to the fake brokers but did not receive any payout in return.<\/p>\n
The police have opened a case for fraud and are identifying the perpetrators.<\/p>\n
