The company regards the cryptocurrency industry as a growth area for its business and a driver of shareholder value.<\/p>\n<p>Naver <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/naver-eyes-stake-in-bitcoin-exchange-bithumb\">began negotiations<\/a> to acquire a stake in Bithumb.<\/p>\n<p>In January 2021, journalists named <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/media-nexon-group-to-acquire-south-koreas-largest-cryptocurrency-exchange-bithumb\">a likely buyer<\/a> of the crypto exchange the gaming corporation Nexon Group. Representatives of the latter <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/nexon-group-denies-reports-it-plans-to-acquire-bithumb\">denied the reports<\/a> of a possible deal worth 500 billion won (~$457 million).<\/p>\n<p>In March, the cryptocurrency trading platform OKEx warned South Korean users <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/okex-to-close-korea-branch\">about the closure of the local branch<\/a>.
