The regulator said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bankofengland.co.uk\/news\/2021\/april\/bank-of-england-statement-on-central-bank-digital-currency\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The authorities noted that the question of launching a CBDC is not finally resolved. The group&#8217;s task is to examine options for using the digital currency and its risks. The experts will also monitor the development of the asset in other countries, so that the UK &#8220;remains at the forefront of global innovation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to the statement, should a CBDC be issued, it would not replace cash but would merely supplement it.<\/p>\n<p>In March 2020, the Bank of England said that the central bank digital currency would operate as a store of value. The regulator later ruled out a launch in the near term.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in November, UK authorities said that <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/britain-weighs-regulation-of-stablecoins-and-cbdc-issuance\">\u043f\u0440\u043e\u0432\u0435\u0434\u0443\u0442 \u0438\u0441\u0441\u043b\u0435\u0434\u043e\u0432\u0430\u043d\u0438\u0435<\/a> in the CBDC space.
