According to the firm&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/caruso-partners-with-gemini-in-industry-first-to-bring-blockchain-technology-and-bitcoin-to-caruso-properties-throughout-southern-california-301264610.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Caruso also announced a partnership with the Winklevoss brothers&#8217; cryptocurrency exchange Gemini. According to the release, this will allow the developer to use digital assets, non-fungible tokens and blockchain applications to attract customers.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;This partnership [\u2026] demonstrates Caruso&#8217;s firm belief in the future of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies,&#8221; the company said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Under the agreement, the company invested a portion of its cash reserves in the leading cryptocurrency. Caruso founder Rick Caruso told the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/business\/story\/2021-04-07\/rick-caruso-bitcoin-rent-grove-americana\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">LA Times<\/a> in an interview that it amounts to 1% of the firm&#8217;s capital. He declined to disclose the amount invested.<\/p>\n<p>Caruso currently owns and operates properties in California, including the The Americana at Brand mall in Glendale. One of the tenants is Elon Musk.<\/p>\n<p>Caruso did not rule out that in the future the Tesla founder could begin using Bitcoin as a means of payment.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;I haven&#8217;t spoken with Elon about it, but he could be the first to pay rent in Bitcoin,&#8221; the billionaire added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In March 2021, Musk announced the start of sales of electric cars <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/elon-musk-says-tesla-has-begun-selling-electric-cars-for-bitcoin\">Tesla for digital gold<\/a>.
