Hayes was released on a $10 million bond, secured by $1 million in cash and his mother&#8217;s obligations.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>The former BitMEX chief will retain his passport for travel to the New York court where the case is being heard.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>Under standard terms of release on bond, he must not possess firearms and must inform U.S. authorities of any contact with law enforcement within 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/cftc-sues-bitmex-and-its-founders\">filed suit against BitMEX<\/a> and its owners in October 2020. Separately, the Department of Justice charged Hayes, Ben Delo, the company&#8217;s head of business development Greg Dwyer, and CTO Samuel Ridu with violations of the Bank Secrecy Act.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>Ridu was arrested in the United States and <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/bitmex-cto-samuel-reed-released-on-5-million-bond\">released on a $5 million bond<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>In early March, it became known that Hayes <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/former-bitmex-ceo-arthur-hayes-has-not-ruled-out-voluntary-surrender-to-u-s-authorities\">is negotiating<\/a> with U.S. authorities for voluntary surrender.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>In mid-March, Bloomberg reported that the court released BitMEX co-founder Ben Delo <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/court-frees-bitmex-co-founder-on-20-million-bond\">on a $20 million bond<\/a>.
