I draw an analogy with the early days of the Internet. There was a bubble. And that bubble burst,\\&#8221; Winkelmann said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The artist added that the bursting dot-com bubble did not destroy the Internet. In Beeple&#8217;s view, NFT technology is strong enough to weather this period.<\/p>\n<p>Winkelmann is the author of the work \u201cEverydays: The First 5000 Days\u201d, which <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/beeples-nft-sells-at-christies-for-69-3-million\">went under the hammer for $69.3 million<\/a> at Christie&#8217;s auction house. The artist called the observation of the auction&#8217;s end \u201cvery surreal\u201d.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe price jumped from $27 million to $50 million. I literally felt a bomb blast in the room,\u201d Beeple said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cEverydays: The First 5000 Days\u201d is a collage of thousands of Winkelmann works published on the Internet since 2007. The buyer <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/beeple-nft-buyer-reveals-identity\">was<\/a> Vignesh Sundaresan [Vignesh Sundaresan], who operated under the alias Metakovan.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cBy Friday evening, that guy had my piece, and I had $55 million in the bank. Boom, done, the next day,\u201d Beeple said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>At the time of writing Winkelmann <a href=\\\"https:\/\/niftygateway.com\/itemdetail\/primary\/0x0151834a6997f89eb8372ac54ac077d79bb4d1e0\/7\\\" target=\\\"_blank\\\" rel=\\\"noopener\\\">is selling<\/a> the NFT \u201cOCEAN FRONT\u201d on the Nifty Gateway marketplace. With 15 hours to go in the auction, the top bid stood at $1.55 million.
