{"id":39070,"date":"2021-03-17T12:53:01","date_gmt":"2021-03-17T10:53:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=39070"},"modified":"2025-08-30T07:48:05","modified_gmt":"2025-08-30T04:48:05","slug":"ex-bitmex-ceo-hayes-agrees-to-voluntary-surrender-to-u-s-authorities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/ex-bitmex-ceo-hayes-agrees-to-voluntary-surrender-to-u-s-authorities\/","title":{"rendered":"Ex-BitMEX CEO Hayes agrees to voluntary surrender to U.S. authorities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lawyers for Arthur Hayes, the former BitMEX chief executive of the cryptocurrency derivatives exchange, have agreed with U.S. authorities on his voluntary surrender and bail.<\/p>\n<p>Under the agreement, Hayes will appear in a Hawaii court on 6 April, which will release him on $10 million bail, secured by $1 million in cash and his mother&#8217;s guarantees.<\/p>\n<p>Hayes will reside in Singapore and keep his passport for travel to the New York court handling the case. He will refuse extradition.<\/p>\n<p>Under standard bail conditions, he must not own firearms and must notify U.S. authorities of any contact with law enforcement within 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/cftc-sues-bitmex-and-its-founders\">filed suit against BitMEX<\/a> and its owners in October 2020.
