The analytics-software provider&#8217;s holdings of the digital asset reached 91,326 BTC.<!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">MicroStrategy has purchased an additional ~262 bitcoins for ~$15.0 million in cash at an average price of ~$57,146 per <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/bitcoin?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#bitcoin<\/a>. As of writing, the value of the assets had risen to more than $5.1 billion (per CoinGecko).<\/p>\n<p>In August 2020, MicroStrategy became the first publicly traded company <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/microstrategy-becomes-the-first-nasdaq-listed-company-to-invest-part-of-its-capital-in-bitcoin\">to convert a portion of its own equity<\/a> worth $250 million into the leading cryptocurrency.<\/p>\n<p>In September, the board of directors of the firm <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/microstrategy-bets-another-175-million-on-bitcoin\">approved a policy to ramp up investments in Bitcoin<\/a> using cash reserves, and MicroStrategy continued purchasing the digital asset.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, MicroStrategy CEO Michael Saylor expressed confidence that <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/microstrategy-chief-executive-says-private-firms-will-move-into-bitcoin-in-coming-months\">the company\u2019s example would be followed by other private firms<\/a>. In the United States, such investments were pursued by <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/square-invests-a-further-170-million-in-bitcoin\">Jack Dorsey\u2019s Square<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/elon-musks-tesla-invested-1-5-billion-in-bitcoin-the-assets-price-rose-to-44800\">Elon Musk\u2019s Tesla<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Also, following MicroStrategy, the first publicly traded companies in their countries converted part of their capital into Bitcoin <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/uk-listed-fintech-mode-becomes-first-british-public-company-to-move-part-of-its-capital-into-bitcoin\">Mode<\/a> (UK), <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/german-public-company-follows-tesla-and-microstrategy-in-investing-in-bitcoin\">SynBiotic SE<\/a> (Germany) and <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/hong-kong-listed-meitu-invests-40m-in-bitcoin-and-ethereum\">Meitu<\/a> (China).<\/p>\n<p>In December, MicroStrategy attracted debt financing for <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/microstrategy-invests-another-650-million-in-bitcoin\">the purchase of cryptocurrency<\/a>.
