He repeatedly posted memes on Twitter featuring the altcoin\u2019s symbol\u2014a Shiba Inu dog.<\/p>\n<p>In early February the Tesla founder posted a series of tweets about Dogecoin, which <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/elon-musk-tweets-about-dogecoin-again-as-the-coin-climbs-nearly-50\">pushed the token price up by almost 50%<\/a>. On Wednesday, February 24, Musk <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1364560733472579591\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">reposted<\/a> a dog-themed image on Twitter\u2014the coin\u2019s price rose 20% in a day.<\/p>\n<p>The billionaire also called Dogecoin his favourite cryptocurrency, and recently said that <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/elon-musk-buys-dogecoin-for-his-younger-son\">he bought the altcoin<\/a> for his younger son.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier Musk urged large holders of the asset <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/elon-musk-urges-major-dogecoin-holders-to-sell-a-portion-of-their-coins\">to sell part of the coins<\/a> to avoid centralisation. More than 28% of the token\u2019s market supply, or 36.8 billion DOGE <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/more-than-28-of-dogecoins-supply-is-concentrated-in-a-single-address\">are concentrated on a single address<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On March 1 developers updated the software <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/dogecoin-developers-update-client-software-for-the-first-time-in-a-year-and-a-half\">for the cryptocurrency<\/a> for the first time in a year and a half.
