This was stated in <\/span><a href=\\\"https:\/\/t.me\/nbu_ua\/27\\\" target=\\\"_blank\\\" rel=\\\"noopener\\\"><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">Telegram-\u043a\u0430\u043d\u0430\u043b\u0435 \u041d\u0411\u0423<\/span><\/a><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\\n<\/p>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">The regulator noted that there is still no single definition of cryptocurrency in the world:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\\n<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">\\&#8221;Its legal nature is more complex than such concepts as money, currency, monetary value, legal tender, securities, money substitutes and others.\\&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\\n<\/p>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">According to the bill on regulating cryptocurrency operations that passed the first reading, cryptocurrency is regarded as one type of virtual asset, the NBU noted. <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/ukrainian-parliament-backs-bill-on-virtual-assets-in-first-reading\"><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">adopted as the basis the draft law &#8216;On Virtual Assets&#8217; <\/span><\/a><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\"> in early December.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\\n<\/p>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">Defining the legal status of virtual assets will allow businesses to operate officially and protect such assets from abuse and fraud, as well as generate budget revenue from taxes on cryptocurrency companies, the National Bank emphasised.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\\n<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">\\&#8221;The law will also act as a barrier to &#8216;grey&#8217; money and the financing of terrorism.
