The Centre for National Projects (CNP) of the Analytical Center under the Russian government studied the activities of P2P exchangers. A report detailing the results will be sent to Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, <\/span>Baza<\/span><\/a> reports.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the publication, citing the report, clients of such platforms are depicted as \\”utterly illegal online casinos, drug traffickers, gun sellers and other representatives of the criminal world who wish, without naming names, to launder or legalize money obtained illegally\\”.<\/span><\/p>\n

\\n<\/p>\n

The authors also note that in most cases P2P exchangers are not registered in Russia and their activities are not regulated by law. Therefore oversight by authorities and financial institutions is necessary.<\/span><\/p>\n

\\n<\/p>\n

Roskomnadzor is currently blocking P2P exchangers, the report notes.<\/span><\/p>\n

\\”One of the legal bases for blocking exchanger sites is the qualification of cryptocurrency as a money surrogate, the issuance and circulation of which is prohibited in Russia,\\” the report says.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\\n<\/p>\n

According to Baza, alongside the CNP’s report, Chernyshenko sent to the government a draft set of instructions for adoption. Among them are instructions to the Finance Ministry, the Federal Tax Service, and other agencies to prepare measures regulating cryptocurrency exchanges.<\/span><\/p>\n

\\n<\/p>\n

As noted, Russia has periodically blocked cryptocurrency exchanges since 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n

\\n<\/p>\n

Often the basis is information on the site about acquiring bitcoin. For this reason the cryptocurrency exchange aggregator Bestchange.ru has been blocked several times. Recently the prosecutor’s office refused the demands<\/span><\/a> to block the site.<\/span><\/p>\n
